Out of curiosity, what is a URL shortener for? Just to shorten the URL of a page to make it easier to remember? I personally prefer a longer URL… it makes my page unique. But thanks for sharing these links… just in case I would want a shorter link.
You did forget to mention twittermega.com that offers mass URL converting free.
@wholesale printing: URL shorteners are popular for services such as Twitter that limits each message, including the URL, to 140 characters.
You can add Safe.mn (http://safe.mn) to the list. Safe.mn addresses the two main criticisms to URL shorteners: security and transparency. All links are thoroughly verified for viruses, malware, phishing, malicious content, session stealing, cross-site scripting attacks, etc. Any suspicious link gets flagged, and users are warned about it. Safe.mn is also the most transparent URL shortener service: all links generated by Safe.mn are publicly available, and updated regularly.
Nice list – thanks for sharing!
I’m using a cool service called shrivel.me for about 2 weeks now – it’s quite minimal feature wise but looks very sleek, clean and professional which is important to me.
Also you can add another. Check out: http://txtn.us
It uses special characters to guarantee just 6 characters in the URL, like this:
http://❽.ws/❤
Seems pretty cool. They also have tools to reduce text using ligature replacements, to fit more into the 140 limits.
And some mirroring, flipping of text – fun text tools.
It’s beta but I’ve noticed it’s getting better.
New URL shortening service, also enables you to create short URLs for video embeds and arbitrary text or HTML:
